Album Progress
The Amazing Dead Felix and The Death of The Little Red Hen are pulling together pretty quick and really only need some polishing and perhaps a redo of my part on Red Hen. Rooster progressing nicely but still needs a lot of work. We started working on The Police Man Song last night. The Wren Song, The Robot Song, 'Draws', all have only rough takes. Handsome Franz, My Friend Paul, and the slow one still need to be started. After listening to some rough mixes of Felix, Red Hen and Rooster in headphones, I think I am going to be quite please with the outcome of this project. The pace is quicker than I thought it would be. If this album is finished quickly I wouldn't be surprised if we dove in for another shortly thereafter.

New Album
Today we start recording our first album as "The Dortchen Wild." Not much to say yet, stay tuned. Side note: Apollo Cafe on the East Side has the best gyros around.

New shows!!!
This is a very exciting time for me/us. We have just got a monthly gig at Sprizzos in Waukesha. We will be rockin' the house every second Saturday of each month. Our next show is Saturday January 12th. Also, I just spoke with Jeremy at John Harbors on Main St. and he said that he watched our videos and thought we had some really good stuff. So he is interested in having us play there but is booked until January, so no pre-Christmas shows, Sorry.
John Harbors is a really nice place. I saw Mueller and Hill there Friday night and actually had a great time. I wasn't sure that they could hold my attention but I really enjoyed them and they were very friendly towards me, and Jim actually let me use his mandolin to play him a song or so.
We are still saving up for a PA so anyone interested in providing financial support please contact us ;)
Or just come to the next show and tip big!!! Every bit helps we are almost halfway to a nice PA system.
I am currently Rockin' "Kick to Kill" by Pop Will Eat Itself from Dos Dedos Mis Amigos

88.9 Radio Milwaukee
What a great station. When they first came on the air I was skeptical but I have come to expect at least 90% greatness when I tune them in. Today I heard an Ennio Morricone song, "Svolta Definitiva" as one of the worlds most dangerous instrumentals. I had never heard this song before and I enjoyed it. I never thought I'd hear Morricone on the radio, and it just so happens that I was listening to his CD The Legendary Italian Westerns: The Film Composers Series, Volume 2 yesterday. I just love that first song "Gunfight at Red Sands: A Gringo Like Me."
I heard a really cool NPR program today about how the human genome contains fragments of ancient retroviruses. In fact, about 8% of the human genome is made up of ancient retrovirus fragments. See this article. I thought it was pretty interesting that they actually were able to resurrect one of these ancient retroviruses. They basically cut and pasted fragments to create a complete retrovirus DNA sequence. When the virus was introduced to a human cell it caused the cell to reproduce the virus just as it should, therefore the virus they created was close enough to the original that it still worked. Ancient retroviruses resurrected from human DNA, what a world we live in.

Today I learned...
Today I learned that allergies to cats and dogs are actually caused by the animals saliva and urine and not by hair and dander. I learned this from a girl who went to an asthma seminar.
Right now I am rockin' "Time Will Burn" by Marashino from The Picture of Us All
Saw these guys this past Wednesday night at Bub's Irish Pub in Germantown. It was a killer show. One of my favorites or theirs. The sound was just awesome and the performance was energetic and full of rock. The lights and fog we real nice and I have been thinking about the show since then. Not totally sure what it is I like so much about their songs, but they really grab me and stick in my head. Keep up the good work guys.

Fedora 8
I decided to install Fedora 8 today even though I was perfectly happy with my Fedora 7 setup. Everything went pretty much as planned. I think I have everything set back up right.
2 tips:
1) Always have a separate hard drive or partition for your /home directory.
2) Maintain a small bash script to run after clean install that does a yum install of all the programs you want added that aren't installed already
I like the new icons I see. The background is kinda neat cause it changes color throughout the day, but I will probably end up changing it.
